IPTV set top box reference design
with new added features
ChipWrights released its new IPTV set top box reference
design. Working toward an all-in-one IPTV solution, ChipWrights
expanded the capabilities of its own mini IPTV design to
include more IPTV features such as S-Video and HDMI video
outputs, USB-OTG, compact Flash memory, and support for
SATA hard drives. Other features include composite video
output, stereo audio output, Ethernet, IR remote control
receiver, and an option for an SD-card, an IDE or CE-ATA
hard drive.
The IPTV solutions combine ChipWrights CW5631 SoC and the
software platform to create an all-in-one solution. This
design supports the features such as digital video recording,
support for a wide-array of video and audio formats, a set
of on-chip peripherals, and flexibility through software
programmability for both the control and video functionality.
The reference design can be used in stand-alone set top
box products or for embedding into other video-centric products,
such as televisions or media players.
The CW5631 Visual Signal Processor (ViSP) is an embedded
System-on-Chip (SoC) development platform designed for multi-purpose
devices. The CW5631 offers an alternative to fixed function
devices in imaging applications. The chip combines a CWv16
DSP (SIMD processor with sixteen 32-bit parallel processor
data-paths), a RISC serial application processor, and an
ARM926EJ-S RISC processor for control operations. It also
features streaming video input and output ports, analog
video outputs, USB 2.0 OTG, I2S audio, Compact Flash, Secure
Digital/MMC card, and 10/100 Ethernet interfaces, in addition
to other SoC features.
