New series of low-ESR solid tantalum chip capacitors with built-in fuses

Vishay has released a new series of TANTAMOUNT low-ESR solid tantalum chip capacitors in three molded case sizes with built-in fuses, which provides a high level of protection against short circuits in safety-critical applications such as industrial, medical instrumentation, diagnostic and control equipment, high-end computing and data storage, and telecom base stations.

The key features of the TF3 series devices are,

Low ESR down to 0.25 Ohm at + 25 °C and 100 kHz
Capacitors are optimized for high-current applications (> 10 A), voltage range from 4 V to 50 V
Offers a capacitance range of 0.47 µF to 470 µF in the C, D, and E case codes
Compatible with high-volume automatic pick-and-place equipment
RoHS-compliant tin terminations, with Sn/Pb terminations available
100 % surge current tested and meet EIA 535BAAC requirements

TF3 series devices feature an internal electronic fusing mechanism that activates within 0.1 second with a minimum of 5 A applied at + 25 °C. In the event of a failure due to high current flow, this fusing prevents damage to circuit components.

Operating temperature range of - 55 °C to + 125 °C.
