Dual-tuner IC with reception diversity
for automotive TV applications
Maxim has introduced the MAX2135, a new diversity tuner
IC that integrates two high-performance signal paths operate
from a single fractional-N synthesizer, and suitable for
ISDB-T and DVB-T automotive applications.
The MAX2135 IC packs LNAs, RF variable-gain amplifiers
(VGAs), VHF and UHF tracking filters, I/Q downconverting
mixers, baseband VGAs, and low-IF filters. The device also
includes a monolithic VCO, tank circuit, and a frequency
synthesizer including an on-chip crystal oscillator and
output buffer/divider.
The key features of the MAX2135 IC are,
Multiple frequency ranges VHF-L: 90MHz to 108MHz, VHF-H:
170MHz to 230MHz,
and UHF: 470MHz to 862MHz
Complete diversity solution
3.8dB (typ) of low UHF noise figure
-99dBm to +10dBm of high dynamic range
Integrated VHF/UHF tracking filter
Integrated VCO and tank circuits
-88dBc/Hz at 10kHz (typ) of low phase noise
Integrated channel filters (6MHz, 7MHz, and 8MHz)
Single operating input voltage from +2.7V to +3.3V
360mW (typ) of low power
Shutdown and standby modes
The device incorporates a 2-wire (I²C) serial control
interface with multiple read and write addresses. A low-power
standby mode is available whereupon the signal path is shut
down while leaving the serial control interface and register
circuits active. Additionally, the entire device can be
shut down by an external pin.
The suggested applications for the MAX2135 IC are automotive
TV diversity systems, laptop/desktop TV receivers, portable
LCD TVs, and portable navigation devices.
Operating temperature range: -40°C to +85°C
Package: 7mm x 7mm, 56-pin TQFN package
Price: Starts at $8.00 for 1k pieces
