80-GHz traveling wave amplifier from Avago for high-speed digital communication apps

Avago has introduced the AMMC-5025, a new ultra broadband traveling wave amplifier (TWA) with an operating frequency band ranges from 30KHz to 80GHz, and suitable for instrumentation and high speed digital communications applications.

The key features of the AMMC-5025 TWA are,

50-ohm match on input and output
ESD protection, 70V MM and 300V HBM
Typical performance (Vd = 5V, Idsq = 0.1A)
P-1dB: 15dBm at 40 GHz
Input/Output return loss of -10dB/-15dB
8 dB of small signal gain and gain flatness of +/-0.7 dB
With a miniature die size of 1.6 mm by 1.0 mm, it integrates easily into RF, Micromodules and subsystems.

The AMMC-5025 has a gain slope control feature and an adjustable gain control feature that allows over 25 dB of dynamic range. The high performance feature of this TWA makes it suitable for use in instrumentation and MMIC applications.

The suggested applications for the AMMC-5025 TWA include microwave instrumentation, microwave radio systems, satellite VSAT, up/down link, and optical fiber laser driver.
