NI's PXI interface modules for military and aerospace avionics applications

NI has announced that it offers PXI interface modules for MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and AFDX military and aerospace avionics applications. And also NI joined with AIM to configure, distribute and servicing PXI systems that feature AIM interfaces. This new offering is ideal for many military, aerospace design, and for advanced real-time and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) avionics solutions.

The mil/aero systems retain the ability to interface with various avionics buses from a single, modular test platform such as PXI. To meet these demands, NI is collaborating with AIM to directly offer NI customers the MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and AFDX AIM avionics-interface modules for PXI.

"The use of PXI for HIL testing continues to play an expanding role in military and aerospace systems," said Troy Troshynski, director of marketing and product development at AIM. "It's a natural fit for us to work with NI on delivering customers the solutions they need in the most efficient manner possible. By combining our expertise in avionics configurations with the National Instruments expertise in global PXI system configuration, service and support, this collaboration will benefit everyone involved in mil/aero engineering and testing."

"By working closely with leading military and aerospace companies from around the world, we observed a high level of respect for AIM as a leader in the field of avionics interfaces," said Tim Fountain, manager for military and aerospace market development at National Instruments. "We wanted to provide our customers with a range of quality mil/aero interfaces that seamlessly integrate with the NI graphical system design platform and PXI timing and synchronization. We concluded that PXI modules from AIM provided the ideal combination of features and the highest degree of integration with our software. Because of this collaboration, NI now can offer mil/aero customers a one-stop shop for their PXI mil/aero systems."

These modules are compatible with NI LabVIEW, the NI LabVIEW Real-Time Module, NI LabWindowsTM/CVI, C and C++. Onboard driver software and support for databus analyzer/visualizer software simplify programming along with a common API for easy port applications between hardware platforms.
