New dual load switch from Fairchild Semi for multiport USB devices

Fairchild Semiconductor has brought to the market a new dual load switch mainly for multiple port USB power applications in products such as set-top boxes, notebooks, netbooks and ultra-mobile portable devices (UMPCs). The new FPF23xx series offers the tolerance of 15 percent and comes with current limit protection, which allows designers to reduce the maximum operating threshold (i.e., the upper current limit).

USB 2.0, the current standard, specifies a maximum current of 500mA. Using these Fairchild's switches, designers meet this specification by setting the device's minimum current limit to 500mA, which at 15 percent tolerance, equates to a maximum current limit of approximately 700mA. FPF23xx series also offer low (<3uA) leakage current and an ultra-fast (<20us) protection response.

The FPF2300, FPF2302, FPF2303, FPF2310, FPF2312 and FPF2313 are the members of the FPF23xx series.
