RS-485 transceivers with switchable termination resistor

Maxim has introduced the MAX13450E/MAX13451E, RS-485 transceivers that integrate software-/pin-selectable, dual-termination (100O/120O) resistors to simplify RS-485 network configuration. These transceivers are suitable for industrial control equipment, IP camera installations, and other RS-485 network applications.

The MAX13450E/MAX13451E use switchable termination resistors that allow users to configure the network solely through software. The integrated dual-termination resistors support both 24AWG and Cat 5/Cat 6 cables. These devices integrate a low-voltage logic interface (down to 1.62V) to support ASICs/FPGAs without the need for additional parts. The MAX13451E has a fault alarm indicator to protect the system against driver errors, and the MAX13450E features a logic-inversion function to reverse the A-B signals in case they are connected incorrectly. Pin-selectable slew-rate limiting improves EMI performance. It also enables ESD protection (±30kV, HBM*) and an automotive temperature range protect against harsh industrial environments.

Package: 14-pin TSSOP

Operating temperature range: -40°C to +125°C

Price: start at US$1.89
