New motherboard based on Intel Core i7/i5 processor platform from IEI

IEI has introduced the KINO-QM57A Mini-ITX motherboard. This motherboard is a combination of socket G Intel Core i7 or i5 processor and the Mobile Intel QM57 Express Chipset and Intel Active Management Technology 6.0, therefore it finds application in high-resolution digital signage, surveillance security monitoring, and public infotainment applications.

"Besides making football games and action movies look more vivid and dramatic, HD can enhance the visual clarity of video systems used in surveillance equipment. One of the latest Mini-ITX boards from IEI Technology, the KINO-QM57, can provide the processing oomph necessary for high-resolution imaging applications with its integrated graphics engine that supports up to 1080p HD video playback." says Chris Ciufo, OpenSystems Media Group Editorial Director and Editor of PC/104 and Small Form Factors magazine.

The IEI KINO-QM57A supports Intel's Core i7/i5 processor and has a memory module that is built using two DDR3 SO-DIMMs, thus providing 8GB of memory. It claims to be good for public surveillance security applications and also enables remote control and monitoring functions over a network. The Mobile Intel QM57 Express Chipset allows high quality video playback and transmission and includes Gigabit Ethernet capabilities.

This motherboard consist of many I/O interfaces namely a VGA port, a LVDS connector, two HDMI ports, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one SPIDF pin header, four RS-232 serial ports, eight USB 2,0, six SATA 3GB/s connectors, three SATA power connectors powering two SATA drives each, an external 12 VDC power input and an internal 4-pin power connector. It also allows one PCIe Mini card expansion, and one PCIe x16 interface for graphics and I/O use. u
