Motor control reference design using Zilog's Z8 and IXYS' power devices

MCU developer Zilog and power device maker IXYS have jointly introduced a new digital power control reference designs for motor control application. This reference designs features the Z8 Encore Z8FMC16100 MCU and a brushless DC motor. Motion sensing and control design is based on a passive infrared sensor by using Z8FO82A microcontroller from Zilog.

"We are delighted to bring to Europe the innovative spirit of Silicon Valley, with the integrationof our power semiconductors and the Zilog world renowned MCUs. The demonstration will feature the use of the Apple iPad as an advanced control and demonstration platform by our Zilog team headed by Darin Billerbeck, CEO of Zilog," commented Dr. Nathan Zommer, CEO of IXYS.

IXYS and Zilog have also made available reference design for advanced LED lighting control using Z8F1680 microcontroller from Zilog and IXYS' LED driver LDS8720. The LEDs can also be directly powered by solar cells.
