MOSFETs capable of handling 100s of Amps
of current for automotive power electronics
International Rectifier has introduced power MOSFETs with
on-state resistance down to 1.0 mOhm for automotive power
electronic applications such as Electric Power Steering
(EPS), Integrated Starter Alternator (ISA) pump and motor
control, DC-DC conversion, battery switch, and other heavy
loads on Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), electric vehicle
and hybrid vehicle platforms.
This new family of MOSFETs operate from range of voltages
from 24V to 100V. The package options include both Surface
Mount Device (SMD) and through-hole packages. Some of the
devices feature revised maximum current ratings of up to
240A in a D2Pak-7P and 195A in a D2Pak.
"Optimized to deliver low on-state resistance, and
available in a wide range of voltages and packages, IR's
dedicated automotive MOSFETs feature a passivation layer
on the surface of the device to provide improved reliability.
In addition, a revised Bill of Materials is optimized to
help achieve robust and rugged performance," said Benjamin
Jackson, product manager, IR's Automotive Products Business
Unit.
These lead-free and RoHS compliant devices maintain change
in RDS(on) of less than 10 percent at 5,000 temperature
cycles which is less than '20 percent' requirements of AEC-Q101
qualification.
