Protection and control IC with on-chip
PM bus from National Semiconductor
National Semiconductor has introduced the LM25066, a new
system monitoring, protection and control integrated circuit
(IC) with on-chip power management bus (PMBus) support.
The LM25066 IC provides a solution to improve system reliability
and reduces operating expenses in data centers, and suitable
for blade servers, storage networking systems, routers/switches
and modular subsystems applications.
The LM25066 continuously supplies the system management
host with real-time power, voltage, current, temperature
and fault data for each blade subsystem. The LM25066's system
management bus (SMBus) communications interface delivers
this data using the PMBus protocol. The host's system diagnostic
and optimization routines use the data to increase system
reliability and minimize the data center's total power consumption.
The key features of LM25066 IC are,
Operating input voltage ranges from +2.9V to +17V
Current limit threshold of 25 mV or 50 mV
I 2C/SMBus interface and PMBus compliant command structure
Real time system telemetry monitoring
Current measurement accuracy of ±3%, 25 mV threshold
True Input Power from simultaneous sampling of VIN and IIN
Power limited control of hotswap insertions, inrush current,
circuit breaker functions
Multi-level configuration and monitoring of system fault
conditions via PMBus
Full featured application design and development software
The LM25066 also provides accurate monitoring of critical
system power consumption and fault conditions.
Operating temperature range: -40°C to 125°C
Package: 4 mm by 5 mm, 24-lead LLP package
Price: Each $5.95 for 1k pieces
Availability: Now in samples, full production volumes expected
in Q2 of 2010
