Digital power dual synchronous-buck driver with inbuilt power MOSFETs from TI

Texas Instruments has introduced the UCD7242, a new digital power dual synchronous-buck driver that packs power MOSFETs, drivers, current sensing circuitry and necessary protection functions are all integrated into one monolithic solution to offer minimum size and maximum efficiency. The UCD7242 driver is suitable for testing and instrumentation, telecommunications, merchant power supplies, and motherboards with multiple points of load.

The key features of the UCD7242 synchronous-buck driver are,

Operational down to 2.2 V input with an external bias supply
High side current limit with current limit flag
Onboard regulated 6 V driver supply from VIN
Thermal protection
Temperature sense output - Voltage proportional to chip temperature
UVLO and OVLO circuits ensure proper drive voltage
Accurate on-die current sensing (±5%)
RoHS compliant

The UCD7242 matched drivers and MOSFETs are capable of driving either two outputs at 10 A each or one 20-A output, ranging from 2.2 V to 18 V, and 300 kHz to 2 MHz, providing design flexibility.

TI says that its Fusion Digital Power Designer Graphical User Interface (GUI) enables the UCD7242's features when paired with a UCD9xxx controller.

Operating temperature range: -40°C to 125°C
Package: QFN-32 package
Price: At $2.65 for 1k pieces
