Altera’s new FPGA based Audio/video kit provides support for triple rate Serial Digital Interface (SDI) and 3gbps SMPTE 424M standard.
The high definition studio and broadcast applications such as switches, H.264 encoders, transcoders, and integrated receiver decoders (IRDs) developers can get rid of few complexities with older kits. SMPTE 424M uses single-link connection from camera where as it’s predecessors are using cumbersome dual-link connection. It supports a datarate of 3 gb/s on 20 full duplex transceiver channels, which is what the industry is looking for.
Along with the SDI, this kit also features Asynchronous Serial Interface (ASI), and Digital Video Interface (DVI).
